News / Media - Medical Poland

The Embassy of Ireland is monitoring the situation in respect of COVID-19 closely. The Embassy recommends that Irish citizens in Poland follow the most recent advice and updates from Polish authorities, which are available from the government at: https://www.gov.pl/koronawirus and the Chief Sanitary Inspector at: http://gis.gov.pl. We also recommend following the advice of university authorities, who are regularly updating their information for international students.

The Polish authorities have begun sanitary controls on borders. Passengers may have their temperatures taken and be asked to fill out location forms. The Embassy recommends you comply with any additional screening measures put in place by the authorities. The Polish government is widely advising social distancing measures. Schools and universities are currently closed, along with theatres, cinemas etc.

Some health related information is available in English at: https://www.gov.pl/web/zdrowie/coronavirus. The Polish health authorities’ helpline set up for COVID-19 queries can handle calls and advise in English at 800-190-590. Please also note the latest advice from the Polish Government for students as of 12 March: https://www.gov.pl/web/koronawirus/uczniu-i-studencie--zostan-w-domu-i-ogranicz-kontakty-towarzyskie

Regarding the situation in Ireland, you may wish to contact the dedicated HSE helpline (1850 241 850 or +353 (0)41 6850300 from abroad) or look at their website (www.hse.ie or www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html).

The Embassy of Ireland strongly encourages all Irish citizens in Poland to register with us at http://citizensregistration.dfa.ie. Tick to select that you are “resident in the destination country” and then tick again to allow us to contact you. If you’re a student, we recommend you put in your university and planned year of graduation under “Organisation details”. We also strongly encourage all Irish citizens in Poland to download the free TravelWise smartphone app and set an alert for Poland.

At the moment Bialystok University is ranked somewhere between 1000-1200 ("THE" ranking).
That makes it 6th result in Poland overall. However, in terms of the Teaching category, it is classified as the 2nd position. Also, 2nd place when it comes to gender proportions (76 vs 24).
