Following around 100 Irish high school graduates who headed to study in Poland in 2019, Medical Poland Admission Office is holding an Open Day on 24th October in Dublin to present some of the optiona available in the heart of Europe.

This Autumn a record 100+ Irish will join almost 300 colleagues studying already in Poland. Getting a medical or veterinary degree abroad is no longer an option but a necessity for many excellent Leaving Cert students as it becomes increasingly difficult to get a place at Irish medical (and only one veterinary) schools. University College Dublin will take around 80 Irish students for Veterinary Medicine and 90 for Medicine in 2019. This level of restriction on places leaves many taking courses that are not their first choice in the hope that on completion of their degree programme they will take an alternative route into medicine.

TRIP TO POLAND 2026 - 11TH EDITION

We are proud to announce that the 11th edition of Trip to Poland, organised by Medical Poland, will take place at the end of March 2026.

This unique initiative is designed for Guidance Counsellors and aims to provide first-hand insight into medical education in Poland, one of Europe’s leading destinations for students pursuing degrees in Medicine and other healthcare fields.

Strengthening international academic collaboration

From 30th March to 1st April 2026, participants will take part in a structured educational visit to two leading medical universities located in Łódź and Bydgoszcz.

The programme includes:

  • visits to the Medical University of Łódź (UMED)
  • visits to Collegium Medicum, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Bydgoszcz (CM UMK)
  • meetings with university representatives and academic staff
  • access to modern teaching hospitals and clinical facilities
  • insight into international student life and academic expectations

This experience allows participants to explore both the academic excellence and the practical aspects of studying medicine in Poland.

Poland - a trusted destination for medical education

Poland continues to grow in popularity among international students. Currently, approximately 300 Irish students are studying at the universities included in this programme, highlighting the country’s strong reputation in medical education.

A programme that goes beyond a visit
